as i watch the news everyday, the headlines were all filled with news on the sichuan quake. there had been a boom on fund raising shows that were organized by various countries, such as hong kong, china and taiwan and these fund raising shows were much supported by the citizens of the various countries. there was no doing away with the heart-wrenching pictures or video clips on these shows. often, we would see families "reuniting" with their loved ones physically, regardless of whether they are dead or alive. i found it hard to endure through all these live footage and mentally-torturing photographs.
on a higher note, today is vesak day. i'm feel so lucky to be able to spend this day together with everyone in the mak family. we met up with gu ma at tiong bahru plaza bus stop and we made our way down to ju shi ling at river valley road. met ye ye, ma ma, gu jie, gu zhang and ah boy there. really people mountain people sea. we went into the temple, i donated about 2 bucks to the temple and then 10 bucks for the sichuan quake relief. it was a really different experience for me, for i've never been into a temple which was that grand. the Buddha statue was as high as the celling was and the chanting that was going on in the temple was rather soothing to the ears and the mind. there was a even bigger Buddha statue in the open area of the temple. really majestic and grand. we had lunch at the temple. there was a free flow of vegetarian food available at the temple. this was a really memorable lunch for me, for i had to push my way through the crowd to get my food. and to top it all, the uncles and aunties, who went to pray at the temple today, were a little uncivilised. the food was not exactly very cooked, i guess, for i could taste the grassy flavour in the vegetables itself. all in all, this lunch gave me a feel of what it would be like if there was a shortage of food or what we often know as food rationing.
after visiting the temple, we went to og (people's park). mummy got some floor mats, yy got some clothes, daddy didnt buy anything and gu jie bought me this pull-string pouch thing. we had some dessert at the roadside stall. the mocha ice cream was really coffee's coffee. omg. it was shiok-ingly bitter, yes! when we were about to leave, i stood up to carry my bag. i forgot that my darling bagpack was a bit puffy. and apparently there was this auntie who complained, "O-o-ouch-h-h! Your bag sc-c-cratch-h-h m-me!" was there really a need to express her "feelings" like that in a play? omg. i just can't stand this people. anw, i did apologise, but i did so sarcastically, hahas.
went home right after the desserts. then some weirdos said they wanna badminton. o.O i amazingly agreed. much to my delight, i worked my way through badminton the entire evening and came home with a weak right arm, a nearly aching ankle and two flattened heels. many thanks to msy for the really cool training.
